Awesome Desk Paint Job...that lasted 3 days.

I totally could NOT believe my luck one day.  I pull up to this garage sale way out in the country.  My heart skips a beat.  I see a lot of antique furniture.  Unfortunately I drove the car.  I tried not to jump in the air when she said the desk was $8!!  There were two, so of course I bought them both.  Plus lots of shelves and some cool little tables if I remember correctly. I had to run home and get the truck.  Duh, I should know not to leave the house on a good garage sale day in anything other than the F150!!  I sold one of them as is for $50, and the other one has been my desk.  I hadn't done anything with it.... until now.
Yes, this was the scene in my craft room only a few days ago.  Ripped out carpet, furniture in dissarry, but check out that FAN DOUBLE TASTIC ceiling painted by Miss Debra Lovell!!  (She's for hire, by the way!).  So what does this have to do with my desk?  The ceiling was the inspriation.  And since I've been on a harlequin kick anyway these days, I thought it would make this desk awesome - or "sick" as Debra would say.  I told her she's a midwestern girl now, sick means" barfing your guts out in a pail", not "wow that is incredible"!  (Are you humming Tim McGraw's "Back When" about now?)

So using the same green that went on the ceiling, Debra painted the desk.  Then I added my harlequin touch, and it was love at first sight!

CHECK IT!!
However......  today I sadly painted over all the gorgeousness....  okay not all, just the diamonds.  Why?  It seriously clashed once we made and hung the curtains up.  Awww shucks.  But the fabric I picked out for the curtains was my FAVORITE THING about this whole craft room makeover (well right up there anyway) so the desk craziness had to go.  Sniffle, sniffle.  It was fun while it lasted!  I'll give an update on the new look soon!  And more on the craft room to come as well!

Since this post was published, the NEW REDO has been posted!!  Check out the new, unclashing-with-the-curtains look! :)

  7. WOW! Ceiling = AWESOME, I've painted a ceiling but it is definitely a pain in the neck, literally. Desk for $8 = Fantastic. Love the little pull-outs above the drawers. What a bummer to have to paint over such a gorgeous piece of work. Can't wait to see the final reveal =)
