popcorn tins + paintable wallpaper

Christmas time.  (Pretend, okay?) What to get Grandpa?!  He's got everything, and at his age, doesn't need anything.  Except maybe a hearing aid, but his pension can pay for that.  You can't go wrong with a big tin of popcorn.  Especially since it'll probably get opened right away and you'll get to dig init too!  Has anyone noticed that in the last few years that them there tins have totally shrunk?!  Of course the price didn't shrink any.  But these tins make the greatest garbage cans!  Forever I've used these for trash cans.  And I'm always slightly embarrassed when guests come and there sit my snowmen in the middle of July!  So enter now paintable wallpaper.  I've picked up a few rolls of this at garage sales.  Twenty five cents for a whole roll?  And it goes a long ways!  I even used some for the back splash in my kitchen, plus several other projects and still have a ton left over.
Before
One of the great things about paintable wall paper is you can paint it (duh) or leave it white.  One of mine I left white, and the other I spray painted silver.  Sorry snowmen, you were cute, but cute just didn't match my craft room or office!  Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I used wall paper paste to adhere it - and the paste came from a freebie box at a yard sale!!!  Talk about makeovers on a dime!!! :)  Last time my mom visited she was having fun thinning out my collection of hoarded goods and she was about to toss it.  Really, Kammy, when are you going to use this?  I might someday, I convinced her.  And she begrudgingly put it back on the shelf.  See Mom, I'm using it!

  1. HA! Another great use for paintable wall paper! LOVE IT! And I'm totally going to do this! You know you can get pre-pasted paintable wall paper, right? But then again, you wouldn't have been able to use your freebie paste. LOL! ;) Great idea, Kammy!!!

  3. Forgot to say that we use these at Christmas time to store the boat loads of cookies we make. They really keep the cookies fresh with the tight lid. But I am envying the trashcans. Mine are so dang ugly, may have to repurpose the repurposed cookie bin!
