Repurposed: Silverware Storage Box and Curtain Finials

We inherited this box from my hubby's Grandpa.  My mother in law brought a whole load of stuff home from his house in Ohio a while back thinking I might want some of it.  You don't have to ask me twice!  This was one of the goodies.  I cleaned it up really good with murphy oil soup, and this was as good as I could get it to look.  It's had a home on my dresser housing my hair accessories and collection of lip glosses.  It still is, however with the new bedroom makeover, this just couldn't stay "as is"!

Oh my word am I excited about this.  LISTEN UP.  I found a whole bin of  curtain rod finials at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for 50 cents each.  Hmmm.... drawer pulls?!!!  I crossed my fingers (because I didn't need any finials) and bought up about twenty packs.  Go big or go home, yo.  If they worked, that would make them TWENTY FIVE CENTS a pull!!!!  Can you get any cheaper than that?!?
They worked!  Yippeeee!!!!!  Don't they look great?  I painted the flatware box coral and sanded some of the edges for a little shabbiness.  Then my mom called me up yesterday and said she saw my post on the dresser and it looked like it had a big ole' plain coral box perched on it and needed something more.  I scratched my head (for ideas, not because the lice was biting) and came up with this stencil that I had made awhile back.  It was just the perfect finish.  Wouldn't ya say?
This houses most of my hair necessities, color for my lashes, and make up to cover up the zits that I'm still getting at 31  29 years of age - urgggg - and my collection of cheap Ebay watches from China, most of which need new batteries....

  4. Before I saw the after picture, I thought maybe you were going to use the finials as legs. Looks really good, Kammy.
