Umbrella Recovered {Waverize It!}

Who likes Waverly Home Decor Fabric?
"I do!  I do!"

Who likes to win fun contests?
"I do!  I do!"

Well, let's help them celebrate their 90th anniversary with some fun!

September is National Sewing month.
You didn't know that, did you?
You should know that, cuz I told you a few days ago when I showed you "The Plounger".

Well, here's another project sewed up for the Waverize It contest.
It was not easy.  I think it would have been easy, if it wasn't for my wild hooligan children who thought all the metal was too cool not to mess with when the black cover was removed.  Oh wow, have you ever tried to put an umbrella mechanism back together?!  Ummm yeah.  No.

Anyways, if you'd like to get yourself some Waverly Fabric and enter the contest JoAnn's has happening until September 22nd head over to their Facebook

You - yes you - could win a JoAnn's gift card and nine yards of fabric!

I took the black cover off the umbrella and took each stitch apart with a seam ripper.  Then I laid it on the awesome "seeing spots" Waverly fabric that JoAnn's sent me and used it for my pattern.  Hopefully you can cut much straighter than me if you try this.

I had just enough of the paisly fabric left over from
"The Plounger" to use for this - woot woot!

I sewed the wrong sides together and ironed out the seams.

I'm a dork.  I meant to do every-other one.  I started ripping out the seams, but WOW I didn't listen to my mom's advice and did a very, very tight stitch.  Nevermind.

I had a fancy green beaded edging that I hot glued around the edge since
A) I was so done with sewing this thing and
B) It was much faster since the deadline for this project was
September 5th, which is today, and I had five minutes left of daylight.  Hence the awful quality of these "after" photos - I didn't quite make it under the five minutes.  So much for the adorable photos I had planned of my little girl in a flowing dress frolicking in the grass, twirling her umbrella.......
