Chicken Wire Is A Must-Have

While driving around looking at trash heaps on the curb one day (yes, I really do that) I found a particularly interested large heap of weathered windows and wood.  I dug out two window frames.  The white paint was almost completely chipped off but I preserved what I could dry brushed some watered down white paint on to the frame.  Dry brushed watery paint - is that an oxymoron??  Well that's what I did anyway, for a great old white washed look.

My mom brought me two rolls of chicken wire last time she visited.  Yay for the gifts my mother comes bearing!  I think she picked them up for next to nothing at a garage sale.  I stapled it onto the back and then snipped the overhang.

You'll never guess how much I got these darling metal birds for - just like they are too, no painting or finagling by me at ALL!  Dollar General for thirty cents.  That's right, kids.  Summer stuff was 90% off.  Oh how I love end of the season stuff.  I bought three.  The next day I couldn't believe I only bought three and went back in for the rest.  I bought them all.

Yes, you really must have some sort of chicken wire display somewhere in your home.  It is perfect with the shabby chic style, rustic look, or even will go with contemporary!  It's just plain ole' beautiful stuff.
Did I just call chicken wire beautiful?

Here is the first chicken wire photo display I ever put in my house - it was actually made for me by my friend Maran.  You can see the original post here, and read how I gave her the frame and she regifted it back to me... haha.  You can do that with good friends, you know. :)
