My Shirt-Turned-Dress For Little Tori

So I bought this tank top in Target ages ago, and I think it was actually meant to be a work out shirt but well ya know.  My work out days are gone like a freight train, gone like yesterday, gone like a soldier in the civil war bang bang......  But it has all this ruching on the tummy that hides things that most women who have born children like to hide...  Not to mention it's blue.  My favorite color.

So when I saw it for a dollar in a local thrift store in a different color, I thought" one of these tops is good, two would be better!"  And I bought it.  When I got home however, the extra small tag in the back was definitely a mistake.  Either that, or someone who thought they were extra small wore it and gave it a major stretch.  I do what I always do when I have clothing that needs altering.  I added it to the pile of clothes-my-mom-needs-to-fix-for-me-when-she-visits that is stacked next to my sewing machine.

So what was supposed to happen, was mom was going to pinch it up at the shoulders and sew across to make the arm holes and neck holes smaller.  She did.  But she did a little too much.  When she held it up for us both to look at, we both burst into laughter.  "Do you think my head is the size of a tennis ball?!" I believe I asked.  That is when we decided if we sewed the side seams in also, it would make the perfect dress for Tori - who is in a size 4T.

I absolutely adore it on her with her little fedora and cowboy boots.  Thanks to her Grandma's "oops", Tori's got a new dress in her already-full closet. :)

Works great layered up with leggings and a blazer for cooler weather.  Thanks for the photo, Melanie from Suave Snapshots. :)
