Spray Painted Skirt

Yuppers, that's right.  I spray painted my skirt.  I've wanted to try this for a long time, and finally took the plunge.  I figured I hadn't worn this plain black skirt in probably five years anyway, so if it didn't turn out then I really wasn't out much.

Using painter's tape for the stripes, I pressed it down tightly then took some silver rustoleum spray paint and covered the entire front of the skirt.  Then I let it dry.....  and wore it to church! :)  I don't know how it will hold up to washing....  I think I'll play it safe and hand wash it inside-out!

I think I'll try a different design next.... spray painting clothes just might be the next big thing.  Haha!

  1. Hmmm, this comes at an interesting time :) A couple of days ago, I was thinking...I wonder if I could paint a couch? Would it need heat set? Would it bleed into our clothes is we sat on it with anything damp? Would I use fabric paint? Spray paint, Brush?...
I will be interested in how your skirt takes it over time. I would have to try it on something that's ready for the trash first. But then your skirt is material...and so is a couch...

  2. Looks great! Would love to know how it holds up after a wash.
This blog offered a tutorial on how to paint furniture. I believe that she used fabric paint.
