Tori's Shabby Chic "Big Girl" Room Reveal {Before and Afters}

Exactly a week ago today, I had no intentions of completely redoing my little girl's bedroom.

 Tori will be three soon, and her room was a rather pitiful sight.

Now I'm not going to claim this is anywhere near jaw-dropping, but I hope you love it and maybe it'll give you a little inspiration as well!

My mom was here visiting (babysitting me while my hubby was away on business, she says!) and we were working on organizing and finishing the basement.  We finally got that project done and she had two days left in Michigan.  We decided to go in Tori's closet and lift up some of that hideous blue berber carpet to see what might be hiding underneath.

And an hour later, we were ripping out the staples and scrubbing the old coal smoke from the wood.

There are a load of pictures in this post so let's get started!

This may be nearly impossible to believe, but from the moment we decided to tackle this room until we finished it, we never left the house.  Which means we never bought one single supply or decoration!

Everything you see in this room is something that I had on hand, including the paint, frames, boards, large scraps of white fabric for the curtains, you name it - we didn't buy it!

The colorful antique quilt was made by my Great Grandma Sluiter,
 using scraps from dresses she made for my Grandma.

I would also love some day to exchange the shade on the lamp (a wedding gift 12 years ago)
 for a fun fabric rosette covered one.

For now, I've hung up my hat and coat,

 but I'll be back with more details and tutorials in the days ahead.

 p.s. We stopped at Lowe's last night after our date to buy a threshold for the door.  So now the total for this room makeover is $5.60. :)
