My Shabby Chic Hutch - Finally did it!

I bought this hutch probably about 10 years ago, but never with the intention of changing a thing!  My friend and I decided I needed some wood in my house.  Not everything can be painted, you need wood for the warmth element.  But well, that changed yesterday and though I liked it wood, I LOVE HOW IT TURNED OUT!!!!

After priming and painting it white, I sanded all the corners, edges, and a few here-n-there spots to give it a nice distressed look.  I started out with 240 grit sand paper, but switched to 100 and it worked much better!

I didn't change a thing with the hardware either - they were old, vintage, and already distressed! :)

Finished look!  I used a turquoise paint (leftovers from my daughter's room) in the back so my dishes would pop with the splash of color behind them!  Annnnd, I thought it would look great with all my old aqua Ball jars, which I just picked up last weekend for a quarter each at a garage sale!!!!

Though I love the look of the doors open on top, I think they'll have to stay closed.... I'd rather not have to dust off my dishes everytime we use them!

  3. I love how it looks painted! I've been wanting to buy a hutch that I like the shape/style of better than the one I currently have in order to paint/distress it. Plus I have a thing for old canning jars ;)
