Happy 3/16 aka John 3:16 Day!

I don't always show canvases and signs that I paint on my blog, but I decided it would be good to show this one I recently did in honor of the date 3/16!

I have an awesome friend who has an awesome best friend that lives thousands of miles from her.  This bestie - whom I've never even met - sent me a Facebook message a few months ago asking if I would paint a sun/moon quote as a birthday gift for our mutual friend, Sarah.  I was quite excited to be a part of this surprise, but I also get real nervous with custom orders.  So I did it on a black background, but I also did a canvas in various brown shades and took a photo of it next to the first one in case she liked the other colors better.  She seemed to be in love with the black, so that left me with my imagination for the brown one.

I used gray to stencil some fancy stuff in the corners and then off white for the lettering.  I can't free-hand letters to save my life!

I love the way it turned out, but that many words took some patience for this girl! :)

  1. I really like your canvas. It was a good idea to put the damask design in the background. Anytime you can work more Bible verses in your decor is nice.
