Aqua Rocka with a Flowa

What, you think my title is cheesy?  Hey, it's hard thinking of a title for five hundred and seventy nine blog posts, kay?  I'm running out of... words.
As my wonderful mother hauled this off to the burn pile she sang:  "The old gray mare - she ain't what she used to be, ain't what she used to be......"  Until her singing was stopped by my screeching - "MOTHER, HALT!!  WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!  I WANT THAT!!!"  She rolled her eyes, came back, and plunked it down.  I grabbed my camera and snapped a shot of the pitiful looking rocker.
But before I show you what this  ugly dying duckling turned into.....

Since the aqua paint was still on my brush from the front door, I gave the rocker a quick scrub down, yanking off what remained of the seat and gave it two quick coats of  exterior paint.
I went to the garden center in Lowes and asked for the head flower dude to help me find something to plant in the middle of my rocker with these specifications: Had to do okay in a mostly shady area, must be a perennial, must have some beautiful color, and must be over a foot tall.  This wasn't exactly as colorful as I had in mind, but it was all we could come up with.  And wouldn't you know it, I've misplaced the tag and can't remember the name of it!  So if anyone could help me out.....:)

A close up of the flower planted in the middle.  Can't wait to see how it looks in full force.

  3. How DO you do it? In a million years, I never would have thought of setting the rocker on top of a planted plant - makes it look like a chair with the seat cut out and a pot set in the hole, like so many do. Talk about vision!

  4. The name of the plant is sort of a play on Wielenga! Well, maybe.

  7. It's BEAUTIFUL in the garden!! I worked with a chair that had a broken/missing seat this week, too! I'm still really new to blogging, so I'd love if you'd stop by to see my chair, too! (www.WhatAmberLoves.com) Thanks! :D
