Trash 2 Treasure Tuesday {remembering Jim Sluiter}

I can't believe it.  I've been so dedicated to this party that I don't think I've even ever been more than five minutes late posting it!  But last week got a little crazy when our planned weekend in Chicago got extended to include a trip to Iowa for my great uncle Jim Sluiter's funeral.
This is a picture of our family (minus my sister) with Jim (far left) and his wife Jan at their 40th wedding anniversary.  They had a large 40th celebration as we knew Jan would not live to see their fiftieth.  She became very handicapped from ALS, but ended up passing away from breast cancer just a few years ago.  How shocking when we learned of our super fit and athletic uncle being diagnosed with a form of ALS also.  Thank goodness he became a Christian around the age of nineteen,  knew his sins forgiven and was sure of Heaven.  The funeral gave great testimony to the fact that he knew the Lord personally.
He had a great sense of humor, was a great sport, and loved to have fun.  As proof, I dug up this old home video (excuse the quality, it's from 1990-something!).  Before you think we're all cracked pots, let me explain that our friend Lois was getting married to a widowed farmer and so  for a surprise wedding shower, we did a "mock wedding".  It was so hill billy and hilarious and the perfect bride and groom?  Jim and Jan!  Here's a little video clip of "the kiss". Thought some of my readers who knew them and were touched by their lives might enjoy this!  (And okay, so we really were cracked pots!!!)

Any guesses as to who the "preacher" is?  Ohhhh dear.... shall I claim him? :)
And there I am turning eleven I believe... surrounded by a few cousins and Uncle Jim! :)
Okay, so now that you know the reason for the absence of last week's Trash 2 Treasure Tuesday party, let's get on with this week's!!!

So hard to choose features from last week's party - there were some SUPERB link ups!

The Post With The Most (views):
This is just one of many crafts she made but these old shovels given a new "pumpkin face" have got to be my favorite from Restyled Junk!

Business card holder from an old cassette tape case?!  Brilliant, Five Seventeen Repurposing!

So this vintage stereo from Suburbs Mama tickled my fancy so much that upon viewing it, I went directly to Craigslist and scoured every nook and cranny within thirty miles looking for a similar one that I could paint! I already have the record collection (we're totally old school here on the Korner and my kids listen to records instead of watch videos),  but then when the hubby started seeing the replies in our inbox, he put the ax on that idea.  So I guess I'll just have to be content to drool over this one!

Let's see what you've got!!

Trash 2 Treasure Tuesday Rules:

1.  Your post must be a Trash 2 Treasure, but I'm not picky on the "trash" part!
If you took something and made it look better and it's NEW to Kammy's Korner - link it up, Baby! :)

2. Place the Party button found on the right sidebar on the post or somewhere on your blog.

Please don't link and run!  Visit the link before yours and leave some lovin'.  So sorry I haven't had a chance lately to comment on all your links.  I do try to visit each and every one of them eventually!!!  It's hard with three little munchkins who need attention and hate mommy's computer time. :)

Link up, Buttercup!
