Refaced - Old to New

Hi Everyone! I'm really excited to get to do a guest post here on Kammy's Korner! In the last year I have had the opportunity to learn the art of salvaging old things and making them new. It has been so much fun to find things at different resale shops and such which I then get to make my very own! While shopping at a store in Lansing I found an old buffet that I thought would make an awesome entertainment stand. It was a steal at only $22 and I could see a ton of potential.

This is what the piece looked like when I found it. I stood there staring for a good 15 minutes just picturing what it could be made in to. My friend Tracy found me and saw what I was looking at - she said that looks like a great find! I took it home and got to work on demoing it!
The fun part was removing the doors and opening the bottom of the piece up which I thought would be perfect for movies :) I also removed old hardware and replaced it with more modern touches. I used Kilz primer to seal it before painting with a semi-gloss white paint. It's amazing what a new coat of paint and new hardware can do for an old piece of furniture! All together it cost me around $40 to purchase and paint this!

Here is the finished product all ready for use! The lamp was also a find at Goodwill which I just painted and added a new lamp shade to! It was great to share with everyone and have a wonderful weekend!!

  2. Great repurpose and I love the price! We bought an old dresser last year and finally got around to turning it into a bench a few weeks ago.
