Repurposed Vintage Lug Wrench

I was doing some thrift store surfing a few weeks ago and not having any luck when this rust old lug wrench caught my eye.  I couldn't leave the store without it.  I knew it would look good on some weathered barnwood doing something. :)

My mom has been here this week and we have been putting our big noggins' together and creating up a storm in the basement!  (The basement!!!  I can't believe I'm staying that!  To think a few months ago I was scared of it!)  I wasn't sure how to go about securing the lug wrench (mom insists it's a tire iron, but she doesn't know that I googled it and it's a lug wrench!) when she had the idea of using rusty nails.  Then I had the idea of bending them over towards the middle to secure, and she had the idea of taking a break to eat a cookie.....  we work great together like that.

We screwed hooks in the top and looped an old chain through the hooks to hang it on a wall.

Using some black paint and letter stencils, I put N, E, S, and W to make the coolest "junk" compass ever!  And yes, I had to say "Never Eat Slimy Worms" just to be sure. :)

And now if your son needs this in his room, which I'm pretty sure he does, you can find it at the Parma Antique Mall. :)

As always,

Thanks for stopping by!
