And lastly, we'll stencil the footstool.

It's had many looks.  This is it's present condition, in my mom's house.  (have you noticed we got lots of projects done while I was back "home" in Iowa?  There's still plenty more to come...  she gave me quite a few things to blog about!)
This was it's look in the 80's, the favorite color of every Victorian Magazine subscriber.
Then came the forest green and burgundy of the 90's.....

When I was vising this summer I managed to get the legs painted black and the old upholstery off, but that's as far as I got.  My mom covered it with this tan fabric, which is fine.... but just a little too.... boring??
So I decided to paint a zebra pattern on it with my newly purchased zebra stencil from Hobby Lobby (thanks for the gift card, MOM!!!!!)
I accidently used oil based paint.  I ended up wearing rubber gloves.  Man do I hate that stuff.
Better, eh???  I think it looks rather swell with her non-grandkid friendly chairs. :)  But that's just my two cents in the bucket...

  1. Man, that stool has a story to tell! I loved seeing all the different looks through the years. And (I know it's crazy) but this zebra stripe is by far my favorite. :)

  7. This looks fantastic! I had to laugh at the "Then came the forest green and burgundy of the 90's....." because it's so true! We used to have forest green wall paper with burgundy flowers!
