Vintage Revival: Shabby Canister Set

It was one of those times that my mom was visiting this summer and we were in a big hurry to get somewhere.  Sure can't remember where, but she did not want to stop at the church rummage sale in our nearby little town.  I was driving, so of course we stopped.  "Everything not marked is fifty cents" the woman informed us.  The canisters were not marked. "So fifty cents each" I asked, "or for the whole set"?  "Hmmm... ohhhh, the whole set".  Score!  So now whereas I don't remember where we were in such a hurry to, I sure do remember striking gold (Kammy's definition of gold) at that sale.

I painted this with a light aqua blue color and of course with a good helping of Plaster of Paris thrown in to the paint.
The hardware all got a shot of razzle dazzle red that could well be from spray paint that was originally bought twenty years ago. Some dude was selling a dozen little cans of razzle dazzle red this summer  - of course I bought them all.  How could I not, with a name like that? I'll razzle dazzle you alright...  Ahem.  I sanded the edges of the hardware so the metal could show through and also sanded the edges of the canisters before giving them all a coat of polycrylic to seal them up.
