There were three of these shallow drawers in the buffet I got for free from Craigslist:
My mother guilted me into giving her the buffet for her dining room, but she didn't want the drawers.
Check out her marvelous makeover:
So I was left with the three drawers. I finally did something with one of them!
I have used and shared this recipe so many times on my blog, but there are always new readers who haven't seen it before so here it is again:
You really can turn just about anything into a chalkboard!
I found these little wooden things in a thrift store for cheap and got them. I thought they were for match sticks, but I have no idea what the purpose of the peg sticking out the bottom is. If anyone knows, please fill me in!
I unscrewed the "peg" and glued it on to the chalkboard.
Perfect for holding chalk and an eraser!
Not sure yet I'll do with the other two drawers. Probably more of them same, since I like how it turned out so well!

ReplyDeleteThat is too cute! Pinned :)
ReplyDeleteKammy, How did the inside look after you took the drawers out? I am seeing more in the naval colors. Nice job.

Your wooden things are decorative wall hangers styled to look like old time scoops. I think they probably origianally held fake ivy or something.
ReplyDeleteOh and by the way, I love your creativeness.

ReplyDeleteThis is a really clever idea. I wouldn't have thought to turn that drawer into a message center and then add the little thingamabobs for a catch-all. Maybe those are decorative flour scoopers??? LOL, not sure, either, but I love your new message center. Pinned
ReplyDeleteI love re-purposing! It's amazing what good you can eek out of items others throw away.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Love it :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea you could make your own chalkboard paint. That is awesome! Thanks for linking up to The Creative Exchange!
