Small Square Trunk In Chalkboard Paint

If you're a regular follower to Kammy's Korner you're probably wondering WHAT IS UP WITH ALL THE CHALK BOARD PAINT?!!!  WILL IT EVER END?!!! No.  Not for awhile.   Because I mixed up a big bad batch of it and when I get some on my brush I run around painting everything that's been needing a makeover for the last ten years with chalkboard paint!  And on top of that, I am going to be selling my stuff-n-such at my friend Becky's barn sale out in Iowa in a couple of weeks so I'm repurposing said stuff-n-such to sell!  So, there's still a lot more where that came from!

But seriously.  Just look at this pathetic little trunk that had flowered paper modge podged all over it.  I think I picked it up for a dollar at a yard sale.  My mother groaned and rolled her eyes... but I knew SOME DAY.... it would be darling again.  Cuz let's face it, when Matilda first  put those springy flowers on this trunk, I'm sure it was darling!

After I gave it about three coats, I sanded the WHOLE thing to give it a distressed and smooth matte finish. The chalkboard paint dried so hard over the metal (which really surprised me - I was afraid the paint would easily scratch off of the shiny faux brass finish) that I really had to use some muscle to get some of the gold color to show through.

I stenciled on my letters and numbers with a creamy color for an antique-y look.

I'll leave you with one more before and after...

and if you like what you see?  It's the perfect image for you to pin! :)
