A Rustic Little Table For The Horse Lover

Oh Baby.  This is the kind of furniture updo that I lovest.  Small, quick, and easy but still get to use the right part of my brain which they tell me is the creative juicy side.

So this little table makeover is for all you horse lovers.
I'm not necessarily a "horse lover", however I am a country girl and have a great admiration for the beast.  One of my favorite things about the community where I live is things like the following scenario:

I've got my truck and trailer in the Parma Ice Cream parking lot, and I'm just finishing up mowing their grass when three girls, each on horse back, ride up and go through the drive through to order their treats.  Seriously?  That just makes me sigh and pat my heart.  "A day in the country is worth a month in the city!"

So the bottom of this little table got painted with black DIY chalk paint and I sanded the edges so the wood would peek through.  Then on to the fun part - the top!  I sanded it with my palm sander, then using a horse stencil (see how to easily make your own stencil HERE) and the same black paint that went on the bottom I stenciled a horse in the center and then stenciled the stars on each side along with the "USA" between it's legs:

To make it look slightly vintage and add a rustic touch, I sanded a few spots on the painted picture lightly.
I added a coat of polyurethane to seal it in and bring out the wood grain.

I added an old horseshoe to the side for the perfect embellishment.  It's secured with small nails that have a head wide enough to hold it in place.  I picked up a whole metal bucket full of horseshoes once at a side-of-the-road flea market down South once.  I'm slowly finding a place for them. :)

Like it?
The biggest compliment you can give me is to pin it! :)

I am thinking of being at the Tompkin's Center Freedom Festival this fall and if I am, yee haw, look for this table to be for sale! :)
