Zebra Duck (Duct?) Tape Boots

Yes, it's true.  I have a slight obsession with boots.  I have over thirty pairs.  Purple fringe, gray furry  stilhettos, cowboy, you name it brotha, I got 'em.  These were boring and plain and I never wore them anymore.  Some friends have tried this with the leopard tape, I blogged about a friend who did her purse with duct tape, and I've had a few link ups on my Trash 2 Treasure Tuesday party. It was time to do it for myself.
Zebra duct tape was on my Christmas list, but the holiday came and went and no zebra duct tape graced my presents.  (that was punny...what, you didn't get it?)  Then my birthday rolled around.  Still no duct tape.  HOWEVER, I got something better.  A gift card to JoAnn's!!!  So off I went to purchase some for myself!
Now I was quite surprised and disappointed to find out that the Duck tape that come sin the patterns is NOT the same duck tape that we've so faithfully used to hold necessary things together with in the past.  It's not as sticky, as thick, just NOT AS GOOD QUALITY!!!  I was expecting it to stick like a mother, but it didn't stick all that great along the zipper.  I wore them all day to a Bible conference and I had to keep looking down to make sure I wasn't walking around with a chunk o' zebra flapping around my calf!  I took pictures tonight of me hotgluing the edges all back in place, but somehow they mysteriously disappeared off my camera.
They seemed to be needing something break up all the zebraness so I thought a big black fabric flower would be the trick.  I thought about black fur, but just couldn't quite seem to be able to make it work right.  Besides, I get enough guff from the fur boots I already own!  I cut a strip off the bottom of an old black shirt.  Tied a knot at one end,
and twisted the strip around while I rolled it into a circle around the knot - holding down with my pink slippered toes so I could snap a low quality photo.
I hot glued the rosettes onto the ankle.  Unfortunately, in my haste I plunked the flower onto the right boot alot highter than I did on the left boot.  Hot glue dries FAST, folks.  My bad.
And there they are.  Love 'em or hate 'em???  Debra and Natalie, no need to voice your opinion!  I know you're embarrassed to be seen with me in public - haha!!!

p.s. Pretty sure shoes would work MUCH better than boots.  It makes the boots so tight, and where it bends at the ankle is where the tape comes loose from the zipper.  It also was very time consuming!  Phew!

  4. ^ Well OBVIOUSLY someone needs their mouth washed out with soap POST HASTE! (And they probably don't know what post haste even MEANS because they are obviously pretty ignorant since they can't think of any other word to use.) ANYHOO... I think they're cute! And they are totally you! And they'd also be great to stick up the rear end of "anonymous". (Or maybe you could use some left over duct tape to put over their mouth. They'd be a GREAT use.) Love ya AND your unique style!
