Arrow Love On Vintage Doll Cradle

Got a cute little paint project to share today.
This little cradle wasn't even on the agenda, but let me tell you why it made it's way onto the agenda!
My littlest honey had the good ole' influenza and was feverish for days.
That girl is a demanding little mite when she's sick.

"DON'T LEAVE ME, MOM.  DON'T EVEN GET OFF THE COUCH WHERE I'M LAYING!
I NEED A DRINK! USE YOUR SUPER MOM POWERS OR SOMETHING TO GET IT!  JUST DON'T WALK INTO ANOTHER ROOM!!!!!  YOU DON'T NEED TO GO TO THE BATHROOM!  CAN'T YOU WEAR A DIAPER OR SOMETHING????!!"

So after about four days of something similar to that...  I ventured outside.  She convinced me she was feeling well enough to be my sidekick.  Well shoot, the fever was gone, but she wasn't allowed back in school yet so we rounded up some paint clothes and while I painted a coffee table, she decided this little vintage cradle would be her project:

She almost got done with the first coat (using a real pale aqua color) when she decided it was too much and she needed to reattach herself to the couch and sip Sprite.

(Seeing how messy and dirty my shop is in this picture makes me want to run out there with a broom right now!  Eeeeeek!  'Tis bad, 'tis bad.)

I finished up the paint job and then went through my stencils trying to find the perfect "something" for the end.

Arrows!  Oh how I love my arrow stencils!
(excuse the weird coloring in the next photo!)

I added the word "love" and an extra arrow for a little creativity.  Using orange, red, and dark turquoise was fun!  I used sandpaper to distress the edges and give it a good Shabby Chic look.

Thanks for stopping by!

If you like it, won't you please pin it?

  1. And when she's too old for dolls, it could be used to hold books or magazines.
