So we're back at the tenant house for another visit today. When we finally stepped foot in to this house just a short little walk through the grass from our house, I have to admit I was extremely (and I mean extremely) aprehensive to walk through this dark creepy spider-web filled mudroom. I couldn't get out of it fast enough.
I didn't get a picture at the very beginning because things started happening fast and I'm just not always on the ball like that. One of the first things I did was put a good pair of gloves on and pulled off the dirty curtains and blinds to let some light in! Then we took the carpet off the stairs and I finally brought in the camera. Let's have a look-see:
Oh, and if you don't believe me on how scary this was, there's a reason my dad is wearing that mask!
I wasn't sure if these steps were worth saving since the carpet pad was like cement on the steps....
I'm really good at recruiting help. These two awesome kids I watch before and after school and one of the best things about them is they love to roll up their sleeves and get to work!! (So where are MY kids during this??? I'll hang my head in shame and say I don't know....)
So yeah, I'll just tell you now it proved to be a waste of time and we just put new boards across the steps. Thanks anyway, kids! Gave them something to do after school anyway. :)
Another angle:
We had to put a new dryer vent in, got some awesome-looking gray vinyl flooring down, and then put some new baseboard around the floor. Sorry for some of the phone shots - I have an old phone that does not do well in the photography department!
Paint does WONDERS too, as I'm sure you well know! Kinda like when I put a little make-up on my old face! The door got a new shade of dark gray, the walls are crisp and clean white, and the ceiling and stairs are a greenish gray color that is a "Kammy's Korner Specialty" color - meaning I mixed some mistints together until I got enough and liked what I saw! We also replaced the old light with a motion censored one, and new door handles

ReplyDeleteLove it! ... but then I ALWAYS love your make overs. Amazing what new paint and maybe flooring does to a room.
