Restaurant High Chair Makeover {Chevron}

Yup, still have loads of this blue colored paint left!  Some day, I will do a post on all the things I used this paint on.  Several years ago, my mom's neighbor called up and told her that their church was getting rid of a bunch of stuff.  In the stash were several restaurant-style high chairs.  Mom asked if I was interested in one.  But of course!  We have used the daylights out of it!  Since we eat outside on the patio every night in the summer (weather permitting) it ended up just being the "outdoor highchair".  Well, after three kids and plenty of "weathering", it was either fix it up or throw it on the burn pile!  So I sanded it down, and painted it with some homemade chalk paint.  Of course it needed a little design - I can't ever just leave it plain!  Plain is blah.  Plain yogurt, plain fingernails, plain bath water, plain potatoes...  okay, you tell me something that is BETTER plain.  Okays? :)

I used the homemade stencil I made for this shelf in my craft room:

Though my "baby" has finally outgrown a high chair, I'm still not sure if I should keep it on hand for when guests come to visit, or if I should make more room and sell.  Maybe for the right price.... :)

And since this is for eating, let's talk about eating for like 14 seconds.  I'm very proud of myself.  I just made chocolate malts for all the kids in the blender.  I poured them into their glasses and there was only enough for them.  Chocolate malts are my favorite.  Faaaaaaavoritist guilty pleasure ever.  I could live on them.  I served them and got the ice cream back out of the freezer to make my own.  What am I doing??!!  A few minutes of pleasure is really worth blowing how well I've done so far this week?  Sigh.  I put it back.  So having said all that, if you want to improve your health, (and eat yummy shakes while you're at it)  check out my sponsor:

Decorative Pitcher Before and After

I think I like the photography happening with this before pic better than how it turned out!  I'm not much of a photographer, so when I get a really good one, I'm stoked! This old decorative pitcher is probably almost a foot tall.  I honestly can't remember if I dug this out of my Grandma's basement or at a garage sale!  It's been in the chicken house for quite some time.  Until today when I became a painting fiend and painted about everything in sight!  No joke, I have enough blog material to last me weeks from today!  And you should see little Tori.  She looks like she could have been one of my projects too - she had streaks of gray, turquoise, and red paint on her cheeks today!  Toddlers and paint - phew!

Anyways, if you've been following my blog for long, this is no surprise to you!  I've done it before on other stuff.  Paint it turquoise (which was painstaking since my spray paint can was clogged so I had to brush it into all the crannies) and then brush silver glaze lightly over the top.  Gorgeous.  But then, isn't everything turquoise gorgeous??

ONLY 4 DAYS LEFT!  Don't miss out!!!

Upcycled and Stenciled Canvases

How obvious is it that I love me some turquoise?!!!!  I just can't help but sneak it in there.
There were originally my pal's that my mom picked up at her garage sale for me.  They were black n' silver.  I gave them each a simple new look with leftover gray wall paint and a stencil.
In case you aren't into turquoise like me.... this one's for you.
and lastly, my favorite stencil.  Which is pretty much obvious if you're been a Kammy's Korner fan for long.  You can see it on my furniture, canvases, hubby's chest....  just seeing if you were paying attention.

My Shabby Chic Hutch - Finally did it!

I bought this hutch probably about 10 years ago, but never with the intention of changing a thing!  My friend and I decided I needed some wood in my house.  Not everything can be painted, you need wood for the warmth element.  But well, that changed yesterday and though I liked it wood, I LOVE HOW IT TURNED OUT!!!!

After priming and painting it white, I sanded all the corners, edges, and a few here-n-there spots to give it a nice distressed look.  I started out with 240 grit sand paper, but switched to 100 and it worked much better!

I didn't change a thing with the hardware either - they were old, vintage, and already distressed! :)

Finished look!  I used a turquoise paint (leftovers from my daughter's room) in the back so my dishes would pop with the splash of color behind them!  Annnnd, I thought it would look great with all my old aqua Ball jars, which I just picked up last weekend for a quarter each at a garage sale!!!!

Though I love the look of the doors open on top, I think they'll have to stay closed.... I'd rather not have to dust off my dishes everytime we use them!

Funky n' Fun Flower Lamp Shade

Figured I wasn't much since I only spent 10 CENTS on this lampshade at a yard sale the other day.  Stopped on my way home from the boy's swimming lessons and a dime was about all I could find in the van!!!  So unprepared was I - never leave home without a stash of quarters, Kammy!!!  shame, shame. (especially since the sale also had the two perfect chairs I've been looking for for my front porch!  $5 for both!  grrrrr).  Anyways,  I took about about a dozen white roses and a few other white flowers apart and hot glued one layer of them all over the shade.

Once the shade was covered, I took it outside and sprayed the entire thing with silver spray paint.

Ooooooooo la la close up.

Wish I had a before of the lamp base - it was black and gold - which I painted turquoise and then put a silver glaze over the top.  The lampshade was PERFECT for it!  It's been sitting without a shade for too long.  $15.... any takers?

Got Gold Frames?

Chances are you have some gold frames sitting in a box somewhere.  Or maybe even still hanging on your wall - gasp!   Seriously, they've been gold LONG ENOUGH!!

Since I've been on a turquoise kick lately, I got out the spray paint and then as I usually do, brushed on some silver glaze to give it an aged look.

And remember, fitting a photo perfectly inside a frame is so old school.  Okay, maybe not, but this is how Marie would do it, right?  And since the silver frame didn't sell at the garage sale, I stuck in a new 8x10 of the fam (Since none of my family photos include our latest addition who is already over a year old!) and called it good!  Have you painted anything turquoise lately??
