Chippy Window With Chicken Wire and Jute

This old window frame with no glass  was in rough shape.  It was pulled from a big heap of junk on the curb.  Not just "junk" like "KAMMY STYLE I LOVE JUNK" but nasty junk.  It looked interesting though and like a magnet being drawn to metal....  it attached itself to me.  And then I did nothing with it.

It moved to our new home with us... and two more years.... I finally I decided it was time!  I put chicken wire on the back of the two small openings, and using a staple gun attached two strands of jute rope on the larger opening to hang photos or printables.

The bottom photos are being held on with little metal shower curtain clips.

I was almost giddy when I came across two more sets of them at a garage sale last weekend!

Yes, those are beautiful children.  No, they are not mine... but I'd take 'em. :)  I am blessed with some super duper  nieces and a nephew!

Old Windows for School Pride

I have a super large stash of old windows right now.  Most of them from our house as we've replaced most of them this year!  

I'm having a little craft booth at our little town's Harvest Festival tomorrow.  So I decided to make some "school pride window decorations".  

For the "Panther Pride" one, I stenciled the letters on the back.  Now this is very challenging for a person like me.  You have to do it backwards.  Eek!  I even wrote it backwards on a paper to refer to and I STILL GOT THE "D" WRONG!  HELLO, Kammy, it's even showing in this picture!  Maybe that's why it happened - I was distracted with taking a picture instead of noticing which way the "D" was going.

No, I didn't notice it until I turned around and ARG!  KAMMY!  

I scraped it off with a razor blade, redid it, and then spray painted over the whole back with some hammered dark bronze spray paint.  And I only used that color because DRAT IT ALL, my can of black spray paint was clogged.  I was going to go for the chalkboard look.... sigh.

Now this one had glass on the bottom but not the top.  So I put a Western sticker on the bottom with two clothes pins glued on with Gorilla Glue for photos or whatever and then put chicken wire on the top.  You can clip memoirs on it, or hang those medals hard earned by the kiddos. :)

It's a little difficult to try to photograph a window (well for this photography challenged girl anyway) but here they are:

Now I'll cross my fingers that they sell tomorrow. :)

Old Window, Clock, and Rope {$1 Decor for the Sunroom}

I can hardly believe I can HANG SOMETHING on this wall!!!  This spring, my hubby told me not to get my hopes up, that the sunroom was not his top priority.  Well it was mine, you can see who's priority came out on top.  Haha. :)

I wasn't going to make this post at all about the sunroom because it is not totally done yet, but seeing the above picture, I just can't help but show you what this SAME wall looked like just a month or so  ago:

Anyways, back to my old window and clock.

I had this old window in my stash.  In our old house, It used to hang above my bed with a wreath on it (shown in a few photos down the post).   I picked it up for free somewhere.

 I found this clock last week while out mowing lawns at a garage sale for just $1 and dry brushed some black paint on it.

The clock is just hanging on a nail on the window.  Then using some jute (sisal) rope, I tied it around the frame, twisting the ends with some small pieces of wire.  I screwed a hook in the wall to hang it from, rather than the traditional nail, just to add a tad bit of interest.

Leftover Base Board Trim? Sign!

It's Wordless Wednesday.

  I'm pretty sure I don't need many words to explain that this sign was stenciled on to a scrap of baseboard trim from our bedroom makeover anyway. :)  Now shhhhhhhhh.

Annnnd nevermind that all my photos in that old window photo display are now three years old!!! Oh yeah.
