Welcome to another edition of "Creative But Blogless Friends"!

I'm not sure "blogless" really applies here since Marissa DOES write an amazing blog but last I checked it hadn't been updated in seven months.  And also, I guess this is a tribute to her hubby, even though I'm sure she had something to do with this amazing project!  Because behind this great guy is a great wife!  And she's not only my friend, but my little cousin.  :)

Today let me introduce to you the man my sweet and wonderful little cousin Marissa married - Dallas Wessels.

Not only does this farmer have a continual twinkle in his eye and a mile wide smile that beams from the inside out, but he's an amazing repurposer!!!!  Everyone's doing something with pallets these days - including repurposing them for firewood - but THIS guy made an awesome fort for his four kiddos on his Iowa farm.

I asked him to email me pictures of the building process, so that's what you're getting today.

Sorry I do not have step by step instructions for you, but maybe someday he'll be famous enough from Pinterest to need to make a DIY channel on YouTube.

I feel like I should offer some sort of prize for the person who can guess how many pallets this treehouse took to construct!  But alas, I don't even know....

Marie, Queen Of The Curb {Blogless But Creative Friends}

 Marie is one of those gals that always finds the good stuff on the curb.  While some of us are scrounging around saving the only thing salvageable off of pressboard desks like drawer pulls, Marie is hauling off big heavy duty buffets and such.  By herself.  She's a beast. (A pretty lady one).  I think I would have buckled under the weight of just a couple of the drawers and stuck with the pulls myself.  But Marie has muscles to go with her determination and managed to get this thing into the back of her SUV without the help of her mighty man Matt.  Or random strangers walking by like I've managed to loop in to helping me on such endeavors...

 Now if painting nice wood finishes makes you squirmy and turn blue, then look away.  But for the less faint of heart.... let's see what she turned this piece in to:

And if you ask her how she achieved this finish, I can almost guarantee she'll say something like this: "Oh I just threw a bunch of paint colors together I had on hand and slopped them on like this, and like so, and wa la!  Easy as pie!"

So now take your eyes off of the storage cabinet filled with wonderful garage sale toys for her grandkids and my kids and random kids to play with and look up to the "REDEEMED" Sign.  Can anyone guess what it was in it's previous life?  Three cheers and a knuckle punch if you guessed one of those cheapy full size mirrors.  Yes, Marie is the queen of upcycling.  She thoroughly explained to me how she did it, and if I could remember I would totally give you a tutorial.  But I'm old and forgetful with a slight touch of ADD and can't remember.  (Hey, it was like two months ago that I took these photos and she gave me the low down.  Have mercy on me!)

 

Knowing Marie, by the time this blog post goes live, she will have painted this a different color and/or moved it to a totally new location in her house.  She's like that.  She must have a touch of ADD, too.  She claims it's her husband with the disorder... but all of us who know Marie and her home decor know that "it takes one to know one."  :)

Marie's 80's Hutch Makeover {Creative But Blogless Friends}

My friend, Marie, spotted a beautiful white hutch filled with greens and aqua blues in the Pottery Barn Catalog.  Yeah, Pottery Barn ain't got nothin' on her.

Checking out good ole' Craigslist, she found what she wanted and hopped in her vehicle with young Luke for extra muscles.  She walked out the door of a house with this hutch for $125 less than what the listed price was! 

She stripped off every extra doo-dad, the wood panels, all of it.  Right down to it's beautiful, bare self. She filled in any holes and marks with wood filler and then got to work painting it.  The color is Sherwin Williams Snowdy Day White, which of course she turned into chalk paint.  Just add some plaster of paris.  The recipe isn't really as picky as people like to make it seem!  (Trust me on this one!)

And the the fun part: accessorizing!  

If I remember correctly, this big star was originally a mustard gold color.

Rachel's Easter Favors {Blogless But Creative Friends}

I've never been this early in my life!

Easter is well over a month away and look at me. 

Giving you something nice and ahead-of-time to pin so you'll have some great ideas for when April 20th rolls around.

There's no way to describe my friend Rachel in one blog post, so I'll just keep it simple and says she's uber creative and talented and made these for her sweet little girl and adorable little boy to hand out last year to their friends during Easter.  I stole these photos off her Facebook page.  I'm sure she won't mind.  Right, Rachel? :)

Who wouldn't want to receive a Bunny Tail or something for their "hare" from these two adorable cuties?  Dude.  I think I'd take a fork full of mud from these kids!

Table, Table, On The Wall {Blogless But Creative Friends}

 One quick overnight visit to Steve and Lisa's house last summer in Ohio and I end up with all sorts of blog posts to share with with world!

There is easily enough in Lisa's home to keep me busy blogging for a whole year, but alas, I ran out of time to snap all the photos I wanted. I was literally clicking the camera while my kids were carrying their suitcases to the car and the hubby was tootin' the horn at me to hurry up and stop the bloggin' nonsense.

(They just don't always get it, do they?)

So, what's that on the wall?  A table you say?

Who sees it?  :)

I have to be honest with you.  I'm not sure I would have ever come up with this idea.  But I'm rather enamored with it!  

The symmetry and moulding must have cried out to Lisa and her topless table...

"We belong here! UP HERE!"

And they do.  Wouldn't you agree?

So last time I showed you something from my friend Lisa's home, ya'll were pretty in love!  Did you miss her barstools she covered from throw pillows?  If so, you can see those HERE.  And then how about the pieces of an end table she hung on her wall?? See that HERE.

I promised you that day - way back in NOVEMBER - I had more to bring you from this talented lady and to stay tuned!  Well people, I've finally got my act together to  show off her bedroom - probably my favorite room in her house.  When we were staying there this summer, she gave me a little tour. I asked if she minded  if I grabbed my camera to snap a few pictures.  Thankfully, she only made me promise to give my daughter's hand in marriage to her grandson in return.  (Okay, so maybe not).

I would advise you to pay close attention to detail....

like the decorative shells and starfish added to the handles of these bins.

From Pillows to Stool Covers {Blogless But Creative Friends}

 I have this friend.  Her name is Lisa.  A fairly common name for a totally uncommon - extraordinary actually - individual.  Just talk to her for an hour or two and you will know what I mean.  To make the understatement of the year, her house is beeeeeautiful.  

One day Lisa was looking at the super stylin' throw pillows in her living room and decided they'd make really cool covers for her barstools.  

So she left one a pillow, and using the fabric, gave the other two new life as bar stool cushion covers.  Either way, these prints are swell, wouldn't you say?!
